15 october 1997. It was time to leave Surinam and Paramaribo. This morning I went to the “Combé Market” and was planning to buy the first supply’s for the coming trip… No way I could buy anything there anymore!! It was a pity, such a fine place to buy all you need and…very cheap too! And all those people who lost there business and income! Terrible!!! Now we had to go to the centre of town and there I felt treated as a tourist. … I hope it is rebuilt now.
